Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 July 2026

Rawi is built to help you learn, not to harvest your data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it and the choices you have. It covers the Rawi app and this website.

01Who we are

Rawi (Rawi, we, us or our) is the operator of the Rawi learning app and this website and is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. For any privacy question, or to exercise your rights, contact us at support@tryrawi.app.

02Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — such as your name and email if you create an account or sign in (for example with Apple).
  • Your learning inputs — the goals you set, the typed prompts and questions you submit during lessons, and your quiz answers.
  • Support messages — anything you send us when you get in touch.

Information we collect automatically

  • Usage and progress — lessons started and completed, streaks, quiz activity and how you interact with the app.
  • Device and app data — device model, operating system, app version, language settings, general identifiers and crash or diagnostic data.
  • Approximate location — a coarse region derived from your device or network, not precise GPS.

Information from Apple

When you subscribe, Apple tells us your subscription and purchase status so we can unlock features. We do not receive your full payment-card details.

Voice input

Rawi does not currently record, transmit, or store microphone or voice audio. Questions are submitted as text. Narration audio is generated from lesson text, not from your voice.

03How we use your information

We use the information above to:

  • create and personalize your courses, generate lessons and answer your questions;
  • track your progress, streaks and quiz results;
  • process subscriptions and provide customer support;
  • operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve Rawi and understand how it is used; and
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

04How AI processing works

Rawi asks for your explicit permission before sending any of your content to third-party AI services. The two services Rawi uses are OpenAI and ElevenLabs.

OpenAI receives your learning goals, your selected learning preferences, your plan-edit instructions, the questions you type to the tutor, and the relevant generated plan or lesson context. OpenAI uses this data to generate your personalised plans, lessons, quizzes, and tutor answers.

ElevenLabs receives generated lesson and preview text, your selected narrator, and your selected speaking style. ElevenLabs uses this data to generate narrated audio. Generated narration text may reflect information you entered in your goal or question.

Rawi does not automatically attach your account name, email address, Apple payment information, account identifier, advertising identifier, or any voice recording to AI-provider requests. However, anything you type into a free-form goal, instruction, or question is transmitted as entered — please do not enter personal information you do not want processed by the AI providers named above.

Rawi currently does not record, transmit, or store your microphone or voice audio. Narration audio is generated from lesson text, not from your voice.

Your permission and choices

Before Rawi makes the first AI request, the app identifies OpenAI and ElevenLabs, explains the information each service receives, and asks you to choose Allow and continue or Not now. If you choose Not now, no content is sent to OpenAI or ElevenLabs. You can review or withdraw permission at Profile → Settings → AI Data Sharing. Withdrawing permission prevents further AI requests until permission is granted again.

05How we share information

We share personal information only as needed to run Rawi:

  • with OpenAI — if you have allowed AI data sharing, OpenAI receives your learning goals, selected learning preferences, plan-edit instructions, typed tutor questions, and relevant generated plan or lesson context, used solely to generate your personalised plans, lessons, quizzes, and tutor answers;
  • with ElevenLabs — if you have allowed AI data sharing, ElevenLabs receives generated lesson and preview text plus your selected narrator and speaking style, used solely to generate narrated audio;
  • with Supabase — our cloud hosting provider, which stores your account, learning content, and app data on our behalf;
  • with RevenueCat — which processes your subscription status on our behalf so we can unlock features you have purchased;
  • with Apple, to process your sign-in and subscription — Apple processes payment, and we do not receive your full payment-card details;
  • for legal reasons — to comply with the law or protect the rights, safety and security of users, the public or Rawi; and
  • as part of a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, subject to this policy.

We limit each service provider to the information needed for the stated purpose and require service providers that process personal information for Rawi to maintain privacy and security protections that are the same as, or equivalent to, the protections described in this Privacy Policy and required by applicable law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

06Data retention

We keep your information for as long as we need it to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes — for example, to maintain your learning history while your account is active. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

07Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access. No app or transmission over the internet is ever completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — but we work to protect your data and to respond appropriately if something goes wrong.

08Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. In addition, you can:

  • review your AI data-sharing permission at Profile → Settings → AI Data Sharing;
  • withdraw your AI data-sharing permission at any time through Profile → Settings → AI Data Sharing — withdrawing prevents further AI requests until you grant permission again;
  • delete your account through Profile → Settings → Delete Account;
  • manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple account settings; and
  • contact support@tryrawi.app for any privacy request — we will respond as required by law.

09Children's privacy

Rawi is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

10International transfers

Rawi works with providers in different countries, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live, including wherever our service providers operate. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place to protect your information when it is transferred.

11Cookies and analytics

Our app and website use a limited set of analytics and similar technologies to keep the product running, remember your preferences and understand how features are used so we can improve them. This website may set basic cookies for these purposes; you can control cookies through your browser settings.

12Third-party links

Rawi may link to third-party sites or services that we do not operate. This policy does not cover them, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any third party you visit.

13Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Rawi evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Please review it from time to time.
